These clips are just what Dr. Olds ordered! I installed them yesterday on my '85 4-4-2. The body shop after painting the car couldn't determine how they went on so I got them back, and since all the 31-year-old originals disintegrated, there was no example to work from. Naturally, the Olds body service manual was vague and all but useless for the installation detail needed. Eventually I suspected the clips must first install on the tulip panel (removable panel between deck lid and rear window). Looking at the panel's underside at the leading edge I found six locations that were slightly narrower than the surrounding metal lip. I took a clip, positioned it at one of the six locations and pushed the clip over the metal expecting the central spring finger to retain the clip when seated. The clip went over the lip of the panel, rotated about 90-degrees as it continued to move into position, and finally seated against the panel with the slender side fingers sitting against the panel lip. When in position, it was clearly visible that the portion of the clip abobe the panel surface had the nub to retain the lower window reveal molding. The remaining 5 clips were installed at the other positions found along the panel's lip, and the two remaining clips went on each end. The panel was reinstalled, and the reveal molding was smartly & securely snapped into place. Although these clips aren't cheap, they do the job and I recommend them without reservation.
