1981-87 Buick Regal Grand National Trunk Deck Lid. Replace GM part # 20476890.
We have reproduced The 81-87 Buick Regal Grand National trunk lid to factory specs. While test fitting on several cars we noticed GM used several different tail light extensions. We found 11 castings to this point. There will have to be adjustments made car to car. All test fitting we did were able to line up the trunk lid just like the factory. The installation should be done by a professional body man. The fitment specs are exact to the originals. Same steel thickness and hole locations. All the interior trunk lids have the hole drilled to access the rear spoiler nuts. If you have a non spoiler car you will have two holes there. You can use 2 plugs like the Spoiler cars did. We did not pre drill holes for the exterior skin for obvious reasons. We did take an old hood and laid out paper. We marked the hole locations. We then transferred the paper to the new Trunk lid and drilled the holes. We feel this is the best way to install the rear spoiler on to the new trunk lid.
DO NOT SIGN FOR DAMAGED FREIGHT!!! OPEN YOUR SHIPMENT AND INSPECT FOR DAMAGE PRIOR TO SIGNING! Sheet metal goods are held to a different standard than other shipment types. We have very little recourse with the carrier for damages of sheet metal that is signed for. WE MUST INSIST THAT YOU INSPECT THE CONTENTS PRIOR TO SIGNING. If there is damage, refuse the shipment and we will get a replacement out right away. Once you (or your body shop) sign for the shipment, you are committing to receive the merchandise in its shipped condition; therefore you own it at that point. While there may be some minor unseen scuffs in the EDP or insignificant damage due to freight shipping as this can happen; no sheet metal goods will be returned for minor unseen shipping damages that will be remedied by the sand/paint process. They are packaged extremely well but due to the nature of freight shipments things do happen. Please note that our sheet metal products are EDP (Electrophoretic deposition)coated. This is not a paint finish. It is a protectant which inhibits rust. This coating must be sanded off prior to prime and paint. So a few scuffs on the EDP coating does not constitute a damaged item.
