This is a Stage Right Trans Brake for a 2004R.
Built with 304 stainless steel. The unit Comes with a detailed 8 page instruction booklet. This unit replaces your factory valve body. It requires 2 new trans tech gaskets that are supplied. NOTE that the Trans pan gasket is not supplied but available separately.
In Drag racing a trans brake is a mechanism that selectively places the transmission in first and reverse gears simultaneously. Thus effectively holding the car stationary as if the foot brake was applied. The trans brake is activated by the driver.
Simply pull the shifter down to the 1 position on the shifter indicator. With the trans brake engaged (transmission locked), the Engine Throttle can be increased to any position (opening) in preparation for launch without the driver ever worrying about the car creeping forward. Milliseconds before the green light illuminates on the tree the trans brake is released by the driver simply shifting to second. With the engine already in the higher RPM and the transmission already in low gear your ready.
Once the shifter is engaged to 2nd the brake is released. The power is immediately transferred to the rear tires. It is suggested to work your way up thru lower RPM's. The condition of your trans & the power of your engine will limit your performance. In other words make sure everything is built to handle the launch.
*NEVER PUT THE TRANS IN LOW 1 AFTER THE VEHICLE IS MOVING. SEVERE DAMAGE CAN OCCUR!!! If some one else is driving your car you may want to let them know this.
IT IS RECOMENDED TO USE A SHIFT GATE DETENT BRACKET IN YOUR SHIFTER TO PREVENT GOING INTO NEUTRAL!!!
