The long awaited GNX Reproduction Wheels have been completed.
I would like to thank everyone for sticking it out with us. This has been a lot more complicated road than the Grand National Aluminum Wheels. We now have the center caps that will not need metal retainers and will not fly off. The most FAQ questions: What sizes are available and what off sets What do they weigh
18 x 8 4 back spacing 23 lbs.
18 x 9 4-1/4 back spacing 24 lbs.
19 x 9.5 4-3/8 back spacing 28 lbs.
Heavy Yes a little heavier than we originally started out but we have a speed rating now (145 MPH) There are a lot of tires with a hi speed rating in this size and we want to match the tires. What size caps and what comes with the wheels What will I need to install There is nothing worse than getting tires and getting knocked over the head with you need lugs, valve stems, etc.. As of Today they will be only Black centers. If you want Gold or Silver let me know I will see what the cost is to do a run of some different colors. We will be offering the 3 Center caps in 2 styles. The Hex style GTA/GNX style cap with GNX stickers. The round tapered Buick Tri Shield Cap that is acrylic engraved like original. 84-85 GN and 86-87 T. I have a 442, H/O, El Camino, 2+2, SS or another GBody I would want.. We will offer these inlays for your GBody. You get a choice of either style caps but not both. If you hate ours most caps will fit into the 3 opening. Lug nuts like GNX original. It has a Black plastic hex cap that covers the Lug nuts. You get a new valve stem with cap. Each wheel comes with your choice of center caps, lugs, Lug Covers, and a valve stem and cap. You will only need tires. (We have a few stepping up who will be carrying our rims and offering a package.)
Your choice of center caps: GNX or Silver Tri-Shield included in the price of the set. Or upgrade to your choice of any others for $45.00. See below for options.
I am sure I forgot a few questionsany tire questions I will refer to the professionals but most tire facilities have a recommended tire size and with increased speed rating your options will now be opened up.
Recommended Baer Brake systems:
18" x 8" Fits SS4+, Track4 13, Pro+ 13, and Pro+ 14 (will not fit Extreme+)
18" x 9" - Fits SS4+, Track4 13, Pro+ 13, and Pro+ 14 (will not fit Extreme+)
19 Fits all (even Extreme+ 14)
NOTE: These will NOT fit the factory GN Rims!
INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO INSTALL ALL SNAP RING CENTER CAPS:
Remove the wheels from the car. Remove the snap ring in the back of the replacement cap. Then install the center cap. Then re-install the snap ring back into the cap. Make sure the tabs have the snap ring evenly placed around. At this point grab the cap and it should stay in place. We have pictures of us lifting a wheel up in the air from the cap and the cap not coming out. Reverse the procedure for the removal.
