Some power master brake failures can occur because of a bad brake switch. The brake switch from GM carries a retail price of $175 to $185 each. The original brake switch was black, the updated switch is gray.
If you currently have a black brake switch on the power master, you will want to change it out to this original gray switch.
GM did have a recall on this item. If your cars switch was never replaced, this recall may still be honored by your local Buick dealership if records exist on your 1985-1987 Turbo Regal VIN number. This is the same switch GM offers made by GE (General Electric), which also made the original ones. The switch is brand new and replace the original recalled switch.
How do you know if you need a power master brake switch The brake switch failure has a few different effects on the brake system. It will leak. If it is leaking it needs to be replaced.
If it is black it needs to be replaced.
If the motor runs non stop this can also be a failure of the brake switch.
If the motor does not run it can be a failure of the brake switch.
