Made with the exact same thin metal underlay before the top coat is put on. It is mounted to a flexible plastic that is made with modern materials as not to break. The same angle split is in the plastic for ease of installation and removal. The notch in the plastic on the right side is purposeful to make installation a breeze. You MAY think your shifter plate is broken/cracked, but it is designed this way for installation without a lot of extra work.
